Vulcan Machine Gun - The Vulcan Gatling Gun, also known as the Vulcan Cannon, is a heavy weapon of the Government of Order Coalition that takes part in the human struggle against the Locust Hordes and the all-consuming Lambent swarms.
Despite its large size, weight, and the fact that it requires two coordinated personnel to use effectively, there is no denying the Vulcan's incredible firepower, capable of reducing the Boomer Locust to a pile of meat slices in an instant. .

The volcano was used by the former remnants of the Order Government Coalition during the defense of Anvil Gate. Marcus Phoenix, with the help of Victor Hoffman, uses the weapon to break through the attacking Locust.

Intending to refuel the submarine, Delta Squad set off for the Mersey, taking with them several Vulcan cannons. Both Marcus Phoenix and Dominic Santiago use one to protect a fuel tanker driven by Dizzy Wallin from Locust marauders who attack them along the way. They continue to crash into waves of drones, looters and corpses. Later, while at Mercy, a Stranded man offers his Vulcan Delta Squad to protect themselves from a horde of Lambent Shapers. Dozens of Lambents were vaporized from the cannon, allowing Delta to continue her mission.
The Vulcan is one of the largest mobile weapons in the Orderly Government Coalition, requiring two people to fully utilize it. One person acts as the gun operator, aiming and firing the gun, while the other carries and operates the ammunition box, making sure the gun is fed with fresh ammunition. In an emergency, the weapon can be operated by one person, but it does not have this kind of continuous fire capability, as the user has to manually load more ammunition into the brake after each barrel of ammunition.
Statistically, the Vulcan Cannon has a similar profile to the Mulcher (except it requires two people) and is several orders of magnitude more powerful. The Vulcan's high rate of fire is such that it can tear apart the strongest enemy in seconds, scattering a shower of bullets so thick that accuracy is a rethink. It's an excellent weapon for suppressing and sweeping large areas, and especially shines when facing large numbers of enemies at once. Like the Mulcher and Chain Gun, it has a short turn and stop time before its firepower can be used - unlike the aforementioned, however, the Vulcan cannot overheat.
Despite the fact that Vulcan is bigger than Mulcher, it is actually less big; the isolation of the ammo box as its own self-contained unit means Vulcan operators are slightly more mobile than Mulcher operators, although they lack the ability to hide behind cover. The main drawback of the Vulcan Cannon is, along with the need for two people to operate it to use it to maximum effect, is its voracious appetite for ammunition; it burned through the ammunition supply very quickly, almost requiring a two-man crew to control it for sustained fire.

The Vulcan Cannon is available in Horde mode as a bonus wave reward. It will be used against you (to devastating effect) in beast mode, in the last wave of Onyx Guards defending Chairman Richard Prescott
The only way to get it in standard multiplayer is by completing the Bullet Marsh easter egg, where you have to collect all three RAAM serrated blades and then interact with them. Once you do that, you'll get a Vulcan (without the ammo box) that can be used manually and quickly without a second player. You'll still suffer the consequences of reduced movement speed and the inability to climb or take cover, but it can still be used to the most powerful effect in Horde.

It has been the primary armament of United States military aircraft for five decades. The M61 was originally manufactured by General Electric, and after several mergers and acquisitions, is now manufactured by General Dynamics.
M61 Vulcan 'cannon': A Six Barrel Killing Machine Like No Other
The M61 Vulcan is an impressive "cannon" that may be old, but it sure can do a lot of damage: What many may not know is the M61 Vulcan - a six-barrel, air-cooled, electrically actuated rotary Gatling gun. -style device that can fire 20mm rounds at very high velocities - has a long and winding history.
It was way back in 1946 when General Electric started "Project Vulcan" to develop the 20mm rotary cannon we see today. The weapon will be capable of firing more than seven thousand rounds in sixty seconds—and by using multiple barrels it minimizes the possibility of erosion and limited heat generation.
The M61 Vulcan saw its first real action in 1965 in Vietnam. It was used on the F-105 Thunderchief at the time and was also seen on the F-15, F-16 and F-22. It is also known to be used in sidefire installations on Fairchild AC-11 and Lockheed AC-130 fighters.
Today, with General Dynamics now in business, the company produces improved versions of the M61A1 and M61A2, among others, which are considered lighter and more practical for the current war.
The Gatling Gun: 19th Century Machine Gun To 21st Century Vulcan
"Military forces usually use Gatling guns to fill the target area with machine guns or cannons. Helicopter-mounted Gatling guns are great for suppressing enemy defenses; firing in just one second will send dozens of rounds down the line, resulting in suppression over a larger area than a conventional machine gun,” wrote a Popular Mechanics expert recently.
Meanwhile, the Navy uses ship-mounted Gatling guns as a defense against low-flying aircraft and cruise missiles. The Phalanx close-in weapons system (CIWS) of the US Navy, installed on cruisers and guided-missile destroyers, is designed to fill the sky in the path of approaching missiles with a twenty-millimeter round, increasing the probability of hitting and saving warships. ," he added.
However, other countries are looking to replace the long-standing success of the M61 Vulcan. For example, a new gun system being developed in China reportedly features a mind-boggling twenty barrels, "making it one of the most powerful and strangest Gatling guns to date."
The expert continued: "China probably designed the weapon to counter the threat of drone swarms, erecting a wall of lead as a defense against dozens or even hundreds of armed drones. … Although a twenty-barrel Gatling gun is not the elegant anti-drone solution used in many Western countries, such as jamming or using lasers, an immediate lead wall will surely succeed.”
