Fod Meaning Military - You insure everything in your cabin, right? I mean everything: pencils, pens, the go-pro suction on the window, the potty you use when the flight is too long and the bathroom is too long. me too
We've all heard the dangers of FOD on the track. FOD debris and damage posters are common at FBOs and flight schools across the country.
Fod Meaning Military
And, before you take off, maybe you should check the engine for an outboard wrench. (If you don't, you should. I took several tools out of the canopy during the preflight to add excitement to my flight plan.)

How about in the cabin? Do you pack all the things? What about your flight bag and iPad?
A quick survey of NTSB reports turns up a great example of what can go wrong when even the smallest object is out of place.
The pen and "bottle of relief" were released during takeoff in the RV-8 van. What's the worst that can happen?
During the spin, the aircraft pulled "harder" to the left and pitched "more aggressively" than a standard takeoff. The pilot lowered all the elevator, "but the nose wouldn't go down." The aircraft then lowered its nose, the pilot applied full lift, and the aircraft reached a level pitch attitude prior to ground contact. (NTSB Report IAD05LA072)

A pen is placed under the rudder bar, jamming it. And a 50-ounce glass jar with new dents in the lid was found under the front seat, next to the front remote.
The pen and vial caused an accident that seriously injured one and luckily the other passenger was unhurt. But it could have been worse.
You know the cabin call, "flight crew, prepare the cabin for arrival" - why not do it on your flight? Lower the pitch of your voice, add some "uh"s, and you're good to go.
An ERJ-190 flight attendant failed to secure the cockpit during a repositioning flight and was seriously injured by the rear galley cart.

During the landing he left the car unharmed. During the launch, the cart entered the cabin and hit her while she was standing. (ERA13CA147)
I've never had a problem with a galley cart in the cockpit (the Seminoles never came with a galley), but what about a flight bag or letter case? During launch, what happens if it flies into the rudder well or crashes from behind?
Most of these items are on our checklist: checking the cabin before the pre-flight and securing the items before landing. But when you're flying before and it's 10 down, are you checking that control set? When you're escorted to the landing because you have a pale passenger who looks ready to reassign your insides with his lunch, do you take the time to make sure everything is secure?
Everything is fine with the video; And, in this case, Thunderbirds helps us. I can't think of a better trained and more diligent pilot, one who might even have FOD issues in the cockpit. Take a look.
